Happy Halloween!!

I know a lot of you dressed up this past weekend, but Boo and I actually have a costume party this upcoming weekend. So I will have to wait a little longer to share my costume with you all, but I can’t wait!

As for tonight, it will consist of hot chocolate, candy, and creepy TV.

What are your plans tonight?

P.S - Didn’t Boo do an awesome job with these photos?! He really got into this shoot - picking the location and playing the role of photographer. Thanks BooBoo!! :)

In My Life - Bring It, Sandy

instaweekend

We had a busy weekend - Bowling with friends, exploring, a trip to Vizio Optic (more on that later), and multiple outfit shoots in preparation for bad weather this week.

And today, we are bunkering down and waiting for Hurricane Sandy to do her thing and leave us alone. Boo’s work was closed, so he’s home with me all day. Atleast that’s one upside to this storm :) Now let’s just hope she doesn’t do too much damage. Yikes!

Are you on Instagram? Follow along! My username is : hollyjollydolly

Happy friday!

I have a teensy tiny favor to ask of all of you.

I am so incredibly excited for my design to be a finalist in Modcloth’s ‘Make The Cut’ Contest (yay!). If you don’t mind, head on over to Modcloth’s Facebook page and vote for your favorite! I mean, you don’t had to vote for mine, but it would be awfully nice of you :)

P.S - I know that had nothing to do with this outfit. So, here we go…. I really like this outfit. And I never wanna take this snood off.

And that is all I have for you today.

Ok, so it’s not that cold out…… yet. Actually, I think it’s supposed to get up into the high 60’s here in Boston by tomorrow (yay!). But I know the cold is coming. And soon. And I’m shivering just thinking about it. I’m a baby when it comes to the cold, so I try to make up for it with some cute cold weather accessories. At least I’ll be shivering with style.

Save The Garment Center

I have a whole drawer full of graphic tees. I have that problem, where, at every concert, sporting event, and festival, I have to get a tee. But most of them never see the outside world. They mostly get worn as lounge and bedtime shirts. Except for this one. There are newer versions of this tee out there, but these ones were given out to fashion students by the CFDA while I was studying at FIT. And I love styling it.

Plus, it promotes a great cause

Baby Shower

I traveled home to Buffalo this weekend for my sister’s baby shower. Yep, I’m going to have a little nephew! She is going with a woodland/owl theme for the baby. So, obviously, I thought a plaid and owl outfit would be appropriate.

Obviously.

The Downside

Untitled

As much as I was looking forward to fall, I actually really dread the weather. Sure, I love my new wardrobe possibilities, apple picking, and pumpkin lattes as much as the next blogger person. But the first day of really cold, rainy, dreary weather, and I’m whining and crying like a baby.  And I’ll whine and cry my way through all of fall and winter. #truth.

Story Of Some Seagulls

room1

Have I ever told you guys the story of these paper birds I keep hanging in our bedroom? Well, let me tell you.

To start with, I should mention that, in high school, I was given the nickname “Little Seagull”. Long story short - On our school trip to France, during our junior year, my exchange family didn’t exactly pack me the best lunches. So I spent an entire week picking at and eating everyone’s scraps. My friends dubbed me “Seagull”. It stuck. And I accepted it.

Flash forward a year later. It is our Senior year of high school, and Boo and I have been hanging out. A lot. One day, Just as the bell rang at the end of the day, Boo came up to me  holding an origami paper bird. A seagull. I squealed, and asked if it could fly. So he threw it into the air, and….. it did not fly. I told him that was ok, that I loved it anyway. But he promised me he would find out a way to make it fly.

Now, flash forward another few weeks. I spent the evening at the drive in with a couple of my girlfriends. We saw both showings, so we didn’t get back to my house until well after midnight. As we approached my front door, there was sign that simply said “follow the arrows”. Inside the house, there were arrows taped to the floor. Through the kitchen, the hallway, and stopping right in front of my bedroom. I opened up the door, turned on the lights, and was shocked. There they were. The seagulls. Just like the one he had given to me before, but this time they covered my ceiling. And there was a fan in the corner, pointed up at them…. making them fly. Along with it, there was a note- asking me to be his girlfriend.

That’s how it began. Seven and a half years later, and I’ll always make sure some of those birds are hanging nearby.

P.S - for those of you that don’t know, those words in the headboard are the lyrics to Jack Johnson’s - Better Together.  Which happens to be one of the first songs we danced to together back in hight school - in my driveway. And it also happens to be the song we danced to for our first dance at our wedding.
