I’ve been hoarding this pretty fabric since February. I fell in love with the peachy color and abstract print right away and was quick to type ‘sold’, but its not a type of fabric I usually work with, so I wasn’t sure I wanted to do with it. Fast forward to more recently, and Ive started to fall in love with the slip skirt/dress trend. And then I remembered- wait a minute! I have the perfect fabric for that! The skirt pattern gives you the option of finishing with an invisible zipper or lingerie-style scalloped elastic. I chose the elastic. It was my first time finishing something with an exposed decorative elastic, and I am in loooooooove. It totally completes the look. And because it’s elastic and forgiving, I can easily pull the skirt up a little higher when I don’t want any skin showing with the crop top.

Speaking of the top - I had a tiny bit of fabric left, so I was able to squeeze out a cropped version of my favorite Romy top match. Now that I’m looking at the photos though, I’m realizing that the front hem edge of the top is a tiny bit wonky (the perils of cutting out slippery fabric, I think). So I might go back and try to straighten that out.

And I already have another styling idea for the skirt. I saw someone pairl a bias slip skirt with a loose white button up and some converse sneakers. Cute, right?! I’m totally trying that next. SO I’m sure you’ll be seeing this skirt around here again soon.

It was my birthday the other day! I didn’t have time to make a new birthday outfit (so many other projects going on right now!), so I pulled some of my favorite old makes from my closet. You’ve seen this top posted here, and the culottes posted here. Going to keeps this short, since this is a handmade repeat, but I love how these two pieces look together. Especially for pulling them out and pairing them together at last minute!

You’ve seen this bodysuit around here before - I made it back in September. But I realized I had some leftover fabric, so I made up a quick dress for P to match! And duh, we obviously needed a whole photoshoot for it, ha.

not much to say here for this set, just a lot of pretty pictures :). As I say all the time, Rowan has become a wardrobe staple for me. And for reference - I have a long torso and add an inch in length to the bodysuit!

I’ve been teasing these outfits on Instagram for a little bit now, and have been dyyyying for a warm enough day to wear them out and get pictures together. Well ewe got an amazingly warm 63 degree day last week and I was so happy!

My skirt is the gathered version of the Wattle skirt with tie waistband. I also added an extra ruffle to the hem in a larger scale of the same gingham print. And of course, I made a matching pinafore for P from my favorite kids patterns (they have so may cute options!). I mean, come ooooooon. we’ll be wearing these all spring and summer, for sure. Penny has recently really started to notice when we match (and thankfully likes it lol). When I put an outfit on her that matches what I’m wearing, she’ll lean in really close to me and put her shoulder against mine and say “look Mama, we match!”. Heart. In a. Million. Pieces.

Mommy and Me fashion - it will never get old for me. I hope she lets me match with her forever.

Can we talk about this fabric for a second? DO you know Star from Well Fibre? She runs a genius Instagram shop where she sells second hand fabric. If you aren’t following her, you should! She lists some true gems. When she posted a preview of this fabric, I was in looooove. And I stalked her page when it went live and jumped on it immedietly. And then the day it came in the mail, I was already cutting out my Wattle skirt. I just couldn’t wait.

And I’m not disappointed. It goes perfect with my knotted Jarrah sweatshirt, but it will also pair so well with tees, tanks, and bodysuits when the weather warms up again this summer. I mean, it would also be perfect for another Hawaiian vacation. Soooooooo hint hint, Zach ;) .

This version is bias cut view A with a buttom waistband. I didn’t get a good shot of the waistband, but I’ll get one next time I wear it!

Handmade Wardrobe // Tania 2.0

I totally forgot to post this here! A little while ago, Megan released an updated version of her Tania culottes. The new update includes extended sizing, new variations, AND the edition of pockets. POCKETS, you guys. Game changer.

HandmadeWardrobe // Late Summer Make

Well hey there! Long time, no see. It's been a crazy busy summer, and I realized the blog here has been neglected.... again. But I have a bunch of posts now backed up to share with you. Some outfits, some adventures. 

We'll start with this romper! I had this all cut out and sitting on my sewing table for 2 months, and I wish I would've gotten around to making it earlier on in the summer. It's lightweight and airy, and the perfect leafy print. I've used this pattern 3 times before (this jumpsuit, this romper, this dress), and it has officially been added to my top five most used patterns. I used the jumpsuit version, and just shortened the pants to shorts length.

Handmade Wardrobe // Another Tee Dress

I told you I make a lot of these tee dresses! This one felt like it needed another fun detail, so I took a page out of my own book and added ruffles to the shoulder seams just like my Rowan bodysuit. 

Also - yes, I'm wearing my favorite Mama & Little teething necklace. No - Penny is no longer a teething baby. But yes- I still wear it all the time. 

Also also - Penny's jumpsuit and sandals are thrifted babyGap, so not currently available!

I saw this agate print scuba knit and immediately kneeeeew I needed to make an Axel mini out it. I could make a million of these skirts (here's another), they whip up so fast and are so comfy. I also made a simple sleeveless, dartless Darling Ranges blouse to go with it. Another one of those versatile patterns that I always go back to. I've been working with Megan on updating all of the Darling Ranges sew-a-long posts (stay tuned later this week!), and it just renewed my love for this old favorite.

New Look 6518

Alright, while my last handmade top was a pleasant surprise, this one was.... eh. 

For one, it's a tiny bit out of my comfort zone. I have no problem with tank tops and even off the shoulder tops, but there is something about thin little spaghetti straps that has never really been my thing. Second.... I was in too much of a hurry. I just wanted to get it done and over with, and I didn't do any pattern fitting. And yeah, it ended up being a little bit too big in the bust. Not that bad, it still works being a little looser fit. It just would better if it fit right. 

So yeah, I dunno. It sewed up quick and easy and I actually like the look of it in general. Maybe I can force myself to take the time and salvage the fit? We shall see.
