Snapshots : My Workspace

myroom1

I’ve shared a few snapshots of my workspace before. But seeing as it was (somewhat) pulled together yesterday, I thought I would take a few photos around the room. Believe me - this is a rare moment.

This room is where I do my sewing and jewelry making. It also houses my closet and is where I do my outfit planning. I would also like to say that I blog in here, but lets face it - I do most of that from the couch :). I usually have one of every project going at once, and therefore my workspace usually looks like a tornado has gone through it 99% of the time. Fabric scraps on top of pattern pieces on top of scraps of leather on top of clothes on top of shoes. And I guarantee you there is more than a handful of pins scattered throughout all of that. Such is my life.

But today I am showing you snippets of what seems like a perfectly well kept workspace. I promise by tomorrow it will be back to its norm.

P.S - thank you to all who have been voting for me in Modcloth’s Make The Contest. If you haven’t voted yet, please, hop on over here and do so! If you have voted already, vote again! You can do so every 24 hours :)

Story Of Some Seagulls

room1

Have I ever told you guys the story of these paper birds I keep hanging in our bedroom? Well, let me tell you.

To start with, I should mention that, in high school, I was given the nickname β€œLittle Seagull”. Long story short - On our school trip to France, during our junior year, my exchange family didn’t exactly pack me the best lunches. So I spent an entire week picking at and eating everyone’s scraps. My friends dubbed me β€œSeagull”. It stuck. And I accepted it.

Flash forward a year later. It is our Senior year of high school, and Boo and I have been hanging out. A lot. One day, Just as the bell rang at the end of the day, Boo came up to me  holding an origami paper bird. A seagull. I squealed, and asked if it could fly. So he threw it into the air, and….. it did not fly. I told him that was ok, that I loved it anyway. But he promised me he would find out a way to make it fly.

Now, flash forward another few weeks. I spent the evening at the drive in with a couple of my girlfriends. We saw both showings, so we didn’t get back to my house until well after midnight. As we approached my front door, there was sign that simply said β€œfollow the arrows”. Inside the house, there were arrows taped to the floor. Through the kitchen, the hallway, and stopping right in front of my bedroom. I opened up the door, turned on the lights, and was shocked. There they were. The seagulls. Just like the one he had given to me before, but this time they covered my ceiling. And there was a fan in the corner, pointed up at them…. making them fly. Along with it, there was a note- asking me to be his girlfriend.

That’s how it began. Seven and a half years later, and I’ll always make sure some of those birds are hanging nearby.

P.S - for those of you that don’t know, those words in the headboard are the lyrics to Jack Johnson’s - Better Together.  Which happens to be one of the first songs we danced to together back in hight school - in my driveway. And it also happens to be the song we danced to for our first dance at our wedding.

In My Life - A Weekend At Home

*I flew home by myself into snowy Buffalo for the weekend.

*I played with Kiki (and had to give Kiki a bath because of a mischievous two year old) and ate my favorite foods.

*I attended the tasting at my wedding venue on a snowy day and recieved fun gifts from my coordinator.

*And I spent time with a whole bunch of little cuties!

…………………………….

And now I’m on my way back to Boston. See you tomorrow with the outfit I wore to the tasting!

What I Wore: Christmas Day

My Christmas outfit!

I was always one of those kids that had to wear all of my new stuff that I open Christmas morning that day. It wasn’t Christmas day if I wasn’t wearing a new outfit. And that obviously hasn’t changed. I couldn’t wait to sport my new Epiphanie camera bag and my new boots that I received for christmas, so I wore them right away that day!

I love my THEIT Bossi bag, but it is soooo nice to have a second option for when I carry my camera around. My new Epiphanie Lola is so pretty! These two bags are my babies :)

Oh, and these are also the first photos taken with my new 50mm lens! Also a new love.

This outfit was straight up copied from Julie of Orchid Grey. She just looked so cozy and stylish, I couldn’t help myself replicating it.

This outfit also happens to be what I wore on Christmas eve. My brother, Boo, and I spent the evening at my dads house for dinner and exchanging gifts. Good times.

"…. where the sea lions kiss, so the story goes. Its amazing shows and friendship cove. Everyone looooooves Marineland!" I wish we would’ve had time to go to Marineland. I always have that song stuck in my head!

Well we didn’t get to go kiss any belugas, but we spend the day near the Falls and Clifton Hill area. This isn’t an outfit I would normally blog, but we were in front of Niagara Falls so of course I had to take a few photos. I’m usually pretty good at packing. But not so much this time. Instead of packing in outfits like I usually do, it seems I packed just random items. And I didn’t even pack any jeans. These are actually my β€œback up” jeans that I keep there. So yeah, I was pretty bored with my options.

But that is neither her nor there, because the day was definitely not boring. We played mini golf, laser tag, had ice cream, and played some arcade games. It was a gorgeous day. I love Niagara Falls!

Down At The Pond

worn on August 10th, 2011

On wednesday of our week at home, Boo and I went to my Dad’s for lunch. If you saw my engagement photos post a few weeks ago, you may recognize the place. My dad has a couple ponds, a cabin, and a lot of woodsy areas, and I love to go down there and take pictures when we visit. He is also busy building his own sugar shanty, and plans on having it finished this fall. New photo spot, maybe?

Rain, Laziness, and Sequence

The entire first half of our trip home was pretty rainy and blah. But on tuesday, after lunch with my stepdad, we managed to sneak in a few outfit photos in between the rain. And thats about all we did - lunch, photos, and then we sat on the couch the rest of the evening. There was some pretty intense games of Sequence going on, though. Exciting.

In My Life.... At Home Again

As usual, I have some instagram photos from our trip home to share with you. And I have quite a few this time……

The day we left, I packed while listening to some She&Him. And then we enjoyed a lovely 8 hour evening drive back to Buffalo.

This is how we party in the country :)

Just some randoms:

Me and my Kiki

a random photo of the Peace Bridge while driving through Buffalo

my favorite John & Mary’s sub for dinner

and a baby eating a cupcake.

We spent a day at Niagara Falls with my oldest friend Amanda and her boyfriend, Daniel. There was some mini golf and laser tag involved. Just sayin. And then we spent 1 1/2 hours in the immigration office at the border for a missing stamp on a certain Dutch man’s papers :)

(p.s - Snape waz here)

Haha, I guess we have a difference in opinion.
