Snapshots // a Happy Place adventure

When I saw that a Happy Place pop-up was coming to Boston, I jumped online and bought tickets ASAP. I knew P would love it, and lets face it - me too. I mean… just look at all this Instagram-perfect content haha. There were so many rooms, including a yellow ball pit ‘pot of gold’ at the end of a rainbow, an upside down room, mirrored walls, ducky bathroom, confetti dome, and so much more. We had soooo much fun and P is still talking about the ball pit. She jumped in all by herself, and it was a big jump for a little girl! (theres a blurry photo below of her jumping)

If you’re in Boston and want to go yourself, the pop-up is around until June 2. My advice: Try to get the earliest time slot of the day and get there early, too. It gets craaaaazy crowded and overwhelming with so many people trying to get pictures. We were the very first ones in line for our group/the first time slot of the day, so we were able to stay a bit ahead of the crowd and even had a couple rooms to ourselves at some points. But that never would’ve happened if we weren’t the first ones in.

snapshots : flowers and blueberries at Parlee Farms

For years now, we've made a tradition of strawberry picking in the summer and apple picking in the fall. This was the first time we decided to go blueberry picking, too, and it was a hit! Penny was picking and plopping blueberries in her mouth faster than we could keep up with her, and we picked enough berries to make 2 pies and smoothies for a month!

On top of that, Parlee farms also has a gorgeous pick-your-own flower field filled with zinnias and dahlias, as well as sunflowers. That one wasn't as much of a hit with P. Bee filled flowers + a bug terrified two year old + sweltering heat don't mix, apparently. But I was in absolute heaven. And it was the perfect photo op, of course! If you're from the Boston area, or anywhere in New England for that matter, check out Parlee farms in Tyngsboro, MA.

Not an ad - I just really liked this place!

Peabody Essex Museum, Salem MA

Our heads and hearts are already gearing up fro spring, but mother nature has had other ideas. With one nor'easter after another pummeling us with snow, we've had to find ways to keep busy indoors still. Zach's coworker told him about the fun interactive exhibits at the Peabody Essex Museum, and it was such a perfect snowy saturday trip!

Penny could probably live in that balloon room, and I don't blame her.

P.S - locals, the fun XYZT exhibit runs through April 22nd, and the Play exhibit (with the balloon room) runs through May 6th!

Spring in February

Happy March! I don't know about where you live, but we had some ah-mazing weather this past week. We took advantage of the warm February temps and headed into Boston to spend the day exploring the North End (our favorite!). Of course we ended up at a playground to keep a certain little someone occupied since she was skipping a nap. And guys! She walked with a walker for the first time! She also loved looking at the water, enchanting every single person that walked past us, and then passed out hard on the way home. I can't wait for this weather to come back and stay so we can have so many more days like this.

PRIMARK BOSTON

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen my posts about the grand opening of Primark in Boston. It's the first U.S. store for the European retailer, and they went big for this one! The store is spread out on four levels. FOUR. And it houses women's clothing, accessories, shoes, and lingerie, as well as mens, kinds, and a home section.  My favorite was the large outerwear section. Oooooh it was so good.

Never heard of Primark? Think H&M, but even better prices. Yeah - our shopping dreams have come true. And If you are going to go check it out in Downtown Crossing, make sure you leave yourself a couple of hours to explore, because you'll need it.

WITH LOVE, FROM BEACON HILL

I could wander the streets of Beacon Hill for hours. That 5th photo? So dreamy. When can I move in?

SNAPSHOTS : GEORGE'S ISLAND

Happy September, friends! I hope your long weekend was filled with sunshine and good sales.

While it mat be the 'unofficial' end of summer, I'm not ready to give up on it yet! We still have plenty of warm and sunny days left, and I plan on taking full advantage of them. Something Boo and I have never done, in the 4 years we've lived in Boston, is take the ferry out to any of the Boston Harbor Islands. So this weekend, we did just that! We explored George's island, which is home to civil war-era Fort Warren.

Prepare yourself for photo overload...

SWEET

sweet1

Last week, Sweet Cupcakes hosted a small group of Boston Bloggers at their Newbury St. location for a little get together. It involved tasting a bunch of delicious cupcakes, coffee, and hearing all about how Sweet got started. All in an adorable little storefront decorated in a pretty soft pink and white. Seriously, it was like eating cupcakes inside of a cupcake. But anyway, I loved hearing that each day’s batch of cupcakes are made fresh that morning. You won’t get any stale cupcakes here! (Don’t worry, any left overs are donated). But that’s not even the best part. You guys, they deliver. If you live in Boston or Cambridge, you can get cupcakes delivered right to your door. Even same day. I think I’m in love.

We got to taste their Guinness flavor cupcake, for St. Patrick’s Day, of course. But I actually looooved their carrot cake flavor. And I usually don’t even like carrot cake. Seriously, you should try it. Next time, I must try the bananas foster!

Thanks to Sweet, and to Allison and Kate for hosting such a fun little event!
