Bridesmaid Portraits & Though Very Humble

Yesterday, sweet Linda shared an outfit she would wear if she were attending my wedding (adorable outfit, by the way, no?). I also mentioned that she actually did have a small part in said wedding, and I would love to share it with you today!

You see, Linda happens to be a super talented artist. Besides posting her daily outfits and illustrations over at Little Tin Soldier, she also runs a cute little etsy shop- Though Very Humble, where she sells custom illustrations. (seriously - check it out. Too cute).

So I asked Linda to do portraits of myself with each of my bridesmaids (and flower girl) as gifts to all of them. And I could not be any happier with the way they came out. Seriously, how amazing are these?! I framed them, wrapped them up all pretty, and gave them to my girls at our rehearsal dinner. And you know what? They loved them too. I mean, how could they not? Seriously. Seriously.

So go check out Though Very Humble and all of it’s adorable-ness. I promise you, you won’t be disappointed.

And, why yes - that is a sneak peek of my dress, in illustration form :)

Guest Post: Linda of Little Tin Soldier

Hey Everyone! While I’m away getting hitched and enjoying our honeymoon, I’ve asked a few friends to step in for me and keep HollyDolly alive and running.

Today we have Linda from Little Tin Soldier. Linda is the sweetest. And she has even had a part in my wedding planning (come back tomorrow for that)! But today, I’ve extended a virtual invitation, and asked her to come up with her best wedding guest outfit.

Hello, Holly Dolly readers! I’m Linda from Little Tin Soldier, and I’m absolutely tickled to be a virtual attendee at Holly’s wedding. Over the past couple of years, Holly has become my go-to crafting friend. She’s creative, sweet, and darling. I know she’s going to be a beautiful bride (a little bird might have shown me pictures).

Summer weddings are my favorite; they always include bright sunshine, pretty flowers, and cool treats. For weddings, keep your attire ladylike to ensure attention is focused on the most important lady— the bride! A polished sundress or a simple blouse and skirt combination in pastel colors work the best for me. I added a fun, handmade necklace because Holly loves arts and crafts, and the clutch easily holds a phone or digital camera for pictures.

Now, if we lived in England, I would top off the entire ensemble with an incredible fascinator, perhaps one with a little prancing pug and flowers. But instead of a crazy hat, I’ll bring along a sweet little card.

Congratulations to Holly and Zach!

Clutch Party

Remember mine and Linda’s clutch party? Well, we are all done! We’ve put away our needle and thread, our hot glue and fabric paint, and we are ready to share our creations with you all!

I stuck with a simple envelope design. And I was so in love with it… I made two! I have plans for a third, as well. Keep a look out the rest of this week for more looks at both versions, as well as a DIY on Wednesday!

Kayla’s origami clutch has to me one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a while. And it requires no sewing! She has a full tutorial over at her blog - Freckles in April.

How cute is this little zipper clutch by Kim, of Kimbercrafts?! I love her handmade felt flower embellishment. TOO cute. You can see more of her version here

Kyla, from Blue Collar Catwalk, came up with this easy and fun double clutch DIY after she saw a similar version at Target. Clever, no?

And, last but not least, the talented Linda transformed this vintage canvas clutch into a colorful and unique accessory with just some paint and some patience :) Absolutely brilliant!

Thank you, all, who joined in with us for this little party. I hope you had fun, and will join us in any future crafting adventures!

It's A Crafting Party!

Linda and I cordially invite you to a clutch party! Put on your DIY hat and get out all your crafting gear, because we want to see you get creative. Whether you want to sew up a new one from scratch, or embellish an old or thrifted clutch - the choice is yours! Just have fun :)

If you choose to go from scratch, heres a few good tutorials I’ve come across to get you started:

Style Scrapbook - zipper clutch

SwellMayde - envelope clutch

Fab Handmade - foldover zip clutch

Just email Linda or myself (HLKeenan22@gmail.com) by April 27th with either the photos of your clutch, or a link to your blog post showing off your new accessory! Linda and I will round up everyones photos and share them shortly after.

Happy crafting!

P.S - the lovely invite was drawn up by Linda, herself. Isn’t she very talented :)

Guest Blogger: Linda from Little Tin Soldier

Hey everyone! I’m spending a little time at home for the holiday, as well as some wedding related activities. So in the meantime, I have some awesome guest bloggers lined up for you!

First up, we have Linda from Little Tin Soldier, and her patriotic attire :)

Good morning! I’m Linda from Little Tin Soldier, a style blog that showcases my outfits and matching paper dolls. Today you can call me Miss Fourth of July (as long as I get strawberry shortcake and french fries).

Holly and I both enjoy sewing and making accessories. One of my favorite books is Built by Wendy Dresses. It comes with patterns and tips on sewing buttonholes to necklines to zippers. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re interested in making a dress!
When Holly told me that my guest blog would publish on a very star spangled holiday, I knew exactly what to wear. I made the skirt last year; I break it out on holidays such as today and Election Day, and sometimes just for fun. Sewing opens you up to many possibilities; resembling a flag is just one of them. Enjoy your day with family, friends, and fireworks!

Silk top: Banana Republic
Skirt: Handmade
Flats: Lela Rose for Payless

Thank you Linda!
