Snapshots : Liam + Lily

ll1

Something pretty cool happened. My sister made a baby. And I got to be there to welcome him into the world.

His name is Liam Padraic, and he has a pretty awesome puppy big sister named Lady Lily. She cries when he cries, and gives him lots of kisses when he’s happy. They’re already best friends. And quite possibly the cutest things in the entire world.

But I guess I’m a little biased.

Suitcase Living

stripes1

I’m usually a pretty good packer. I will start weeks before my trip, and then obsess over everything until I have the perfect combination.

And, with a teeny suitcase filled mostly with photography equipment, I packed very little clothes for this trip. I had to remix the crap out of the few items I did pack. It would’ve made a good little mini remix feature for the blog….. If I would’ve thought to photograph more outfits. But I didn’t. Of course.

So you get this one.

Next time, I swear!

Shop Update

newshd

As promised, my next group of new items is up and ready in the shop! I have small bow hair clips, and a couple of larger hair combs. I can only do the hair combs in the two colors at the moment, but hopefully down the road I can do it in more!

In other news, I now accept direct checkout, as well as Etsy gift cards. Woohoo!

…..

Stay tuned in a few weeks for brand new items. P.S - I’m super excited about these ones!

Rebel

sparkle1

I wore this out last week for date night with Boo. We went all rebellious and had dessert for dinner. I’m talking chocolate mousse, peanut butter pie, ice cream sundaes, and white hot chocolate. Yes, we had all of that. For dinner.

But the craziness stopped there. We were home by 7, with our butts on the couch, picking our favorites in a fantasy hockey draft. I know - exciting. You don’t have to tell me :)

Snapshots

IMG_5667

As I mentioned before, ever since I got my new camera at the beginning of the year, I find myself taking a lot more random snapshots throughout the week. And I’m excited to start sharing some of them with you!

So when we got a little bit more of snow last week, I put on my snow boots, grabbed my camera, and went out for a quick little winter wonderland walk. Theres something about the pure, stark white right after a snowfall that is so striking. That is, before it gets a brown and muddy and slushy. gross.

What's In My Bag : Travel Edition

bag12

I shared my love for this bag yesterday, and now I thought I would show you what is inside. This bag is nice and big and roomy. I can fit my computer, iPad, camera, multiple lenses, and everything in between.  And yes, it all fits. I swear.

Camera Gear

One of the main purposes of my trip is to (hopefully) take some photos of my newborn nephew. So I’m carrying more camera gear than I might usually. There is even more in my suitcase.

- Canon Rebel 4ti (my old xti is pictured because I used the 4ti to take this photo)

- Canon 50mm 1.4 lens

- Canon 40mm pancake lens

- Canon 18-55mm zoom lens (not pictured - being used)

- Neewer flash speedlite

- Fujifilm Instax Mini

Tech Gear

- Macbook Pro (for photo editing, interenet, etc)

- iPad2 and stylus (for sketching, gaming, reading, blog reading, etc)

-iPhone (for instagram. and twitter. Obvs.)

Everything Else

- Warby Parker prescrition sunglasses. I just got these, and I’m pretty excited to be able to wear sunglasses and be able to still see.

- Mini notebook and neon colored pencils. For fun.

-Wallet, keys, coffee coozie. The basics.

- Business cards. Because you never know.

- A few small snacks. I don’t deal with hunger well at all. So I always make sure I have something on me.

-Tissues. Travelling can be rough, yo.

-My dino pouch. I keep all small things in here so they aren’t just floating around. Like bandaids, hair ties, bobbie pins, Rosebud Salve, camera remote, etc.

Travel Formula

epiphanie3

I seem to have acquired quite the collection of camera bags. I wore my new Ona bag in tuesday’s post, and here I have my other new one - my Epiphanie Brooklyn bag. I’m really excited to use this one, because I think it will be perfect for traveling. I often fly by myself, and carrying a big bulky shoulder bag, while rolling a suitcase, and carrying a coffee and ticket can be, well, not so fun. So I’m picturing that this backpack will make things so much easier!

And it just so happens that I will traveling all this weekend and next week - how perfect! I not only imagine myself carrying this bag, I also plan on wearing an outfit pretty similar to this for my flight. Mostly knits, lots of layers, comfy boots, and a colorful carry-on. The perfect formula for travel wear.

DIY Burlap Envelope

envelope6

A part of re-inventing shopHollyDolly has been coming up with a new way to package and wrap up orders. It just so happens that I have a lot of extra burlap lying around post-wedding. So decided to make some super simple burlap envelopes, with some tissue paper in between so the burlap doesn’t scratch the leather rand other items.

They are soooo easy, and I’ve been making them in all different sizes for all different items. They would be cute to package up any little gifts!

envelope1

1. Make a template for your envelope. It all depends on the size you want.

2. Use your template to cut out one piece of burlap, and one piece of tissue paper. You may need to iron your burlap and tissue paper before you get started. For the tissue paper, make sure you use a low setting and do it quickly.

envelope2

3. Place the tissue paper on top of the burlap and sew along the bottom edge.

envelope3

4. Fold up into an envelope shape. But not all the way to the very edge - leave about half an inch before the flap starts. Pin in place. Sew from one bottom edge, aaaall the way around (including the flap), until you reach the other bottom edge.

5. Put in your goodies, and close however you like! I tied some bakers twine around it and finished it off with some HollyDolly stickers I got from Moo.com. You could also sew on a snap or button, or whatever you can come up with!
