CAPED

I’m a little behind on outfit posts. I wore this, not this past weekend, but the weekend before. On our monthly trip to Worcester. I had my usual trip to Crompton Collective to update my shopHollyDolly case, we picked up some new air plants at Seed to Stem, and then we went ice skating and grabbed seem coco and hot dogs afterward.

It was probably one of the best ice skating days we’ve ever had! We got there right as the rink was opening, so we practically had it to ourselves. More room for Boo to pull me around, and less people to see me struggle when I try to skate by myself :|.

I MADE A COAT

rainbowcoat1

My coat obsession is so severe, I’m now making them to add to my collection.

It’s officially gotten out of hand.

But really, I’m pretty proud of this one. It’s colorful, has some crazy closures, and is fully lined. And not just lined - the lining is quilted and super thick. BAM. I plan on staying nice and cozy in this one.

It wen’t together fairly quickly, too. Although I do have some issues with the pattern. It’s labeled β€˜easy’, and because of that, the way they instruct you to construct the coat is not the best. It’s just not how a lined coat is properly put together. Or anything lined, for that matter. I made up for it, though, ignoring the instructions. And it also meant NO POCKETS. But with that - by the time I thought to add them, it was way too late. Ooooooh the horror. A coat with no pockets :/. But seeing as it’s just one of nine (9?!) coats now in my collection, I think I can do without pockets on one.

Jeans and Tee

einstein1

I don’t usually document jeans and tee outfits here on the blog. I don’t really know why. It’s not like I don’t wear that type of outfit, it’s just not the type I usually photograph.

This past weekend, Old Navy was hosting a pop-up shop in both Harvard Square and Boston to showcase their Rockstar and Boyfriend cut denim lines. Not to mention, the sweet Kendi was also there, helping out with styling sessions. Now, I already own some Rockstar skinny jeans, and really love them. But after receiving this lighter wash pair at the styling session, I think I’ve re-discovered my love for the classic jeans and tee outfit.

Plus, this tee glows in the dark. So there’s that :). I couldn’t help but rescue it from Boo’s donate pile. I mean, how could you let such a gem go?!

Like Summer

sherbert1

I have had this outfit by Beth of B. Jones stuck in my head for forever now. No really, I just sit there and think about that outfit sometimes. No joke. And yet somehow it just dawned on me the other day, that I have all the components to put a veeeeery similar outfit together myself. How did I not realize this before?! It made me so excited!

And also - this outfit made me feel like summer.

Handmade

handmade1

Ever since I started making weekly garments for Design Diary, it has also motivated me to tackle projects in my own to-do pile. The pattern and fabric for this dress has been sitting around for quite some time now, and I finally got around to putting it together. It might be a little late in the season to be making a plaid, flannel dress. But at least the bright colors make up for it and make it spring appropriate.

And now I’m even more excited to finish more garments in my project pile!

Stay tuned.
