DIY : Hair Combs

Have you seen this DIY floating around pinterest? Iā€™ve had it pinned for awhile, and have been dying to make one. I finally got around to it!

Its incredibly simple. All you need is:

*hair comb (you can get a whole pack of them at the drug store)

*embroidery floss

And voila! All I did was wrap the floss around the teeth in a v shape. And then repeat. Its incredibly simple, and only took about 15 minutes. I loved it so much, I made a second one (in wedding colors, of course).

Come back tomorrow to see it in action.

Hey everyone! Iā€™m spending a little time at home for the holiday, as well as some wedding related activities. So in the meantime, I have some awesome guest bloggers lined up for you!

Next up, we have Rebecca from RebeccawithanR, and her pinspired outfit :)

ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦.

Hiya friends! Iā€™m Rebecca from RebeccawithanR. Iā€™m so excited to be visiting here on HollyDolly. And isnā€™t Holly just that? Such a doll!

So, can I get a show of hands here.. Who has a Pinterest account? Ah, yes. Thatā€™s a fair amount. (Those who donā€™t have one and would like one, let me know and Iā€™ll send you an invite! I love sharing. Sharing is caring.) Iā€™m a little bit in love with using it to store outfit inspiration. This outfit was a dreary weather interpretation of this. She looks way cuter but I sure felt great on that rainy day!

My inner hippie decided not to wear makeup that day. My inner hippie also doesnā€™t like to wear bras, but I donā€™t think the general public would appreciate that. Is that TMI for a guest poster to share? Letā€™s rectify that. Hop on over here, and donā€™t be a stranger!

ā€¦ā€¦..

Thank you Rebecca!

P.S - donā€™t forget to enter my Krust handbag and Hollydoll necklace giveaway !

Another Pinspiration

worn on May 26th, 2011

You guys have seen this pin floating around on Pinterest, right? I really couldnā€™t wait any longer to give re-creating it a shot. Really, I donā€™t own similar things to everything in the outfit- only the chambray shirt and polka dot skirt. So I had to work with what I have. But I still super love it.

Remember how I said I had the evening to myself? Yeah, well Boo never went to his work dinner. So while I did get my thrifting and Starbucks fix in, I didnā€™t get my Chipotle dinner and ridiculous movie watching. But thats ok, because it also meant Boo could take my photos after all! So we skipped off to the park ( we didnā€™t actually skip, but we should have), and I had a grand ole time sliding down baby slides and hugging random lamb statues. Good times.

How Very Pinteresting

You all know about Pinterest by now, right? Well, if you donā€™t, Iā€™m going to tell you about it. And if you doā€¦. Iā€™m going to tell you about it anyway. I have folder after folder on my computer saved with so many images. You know what Iā€™m talking about. Anything prettyā€¦ right click/save. Its how I roll. Imagine my delight when I started to hear about this website - Pinterest - where you can store all of those images into organized virtual boards. I was desperate to get an invite. It was all I could think about. I wanted to pin so badly! Well thankfully, my invite cameā€¦. and now I am a pinterest addict.

Iā€™ve talked about this site on here before, but Pinterest contacted me and asked me to do a post about my boards. And since I probably would be talking about it anyway, I said why not!

What I love about Pinterest, is not only can I see all these images in one spot, but it automatically links back to its original source. Which is the biggest problem with saving them to my computer. And doesnā€™t everything so nice when its all pretty and organized?

I have 9 boards, including a DIY, hair inspiration, home decor ideas, and yummy foods to make. But two of my busiest boards have to be my style inspiration and 'most wanted' boards. I read so many style blogs on a daily basis, that I am constantly seeing so many gorgeous and inspirational outfits that I would love to try myself. Now, all I have to do is simply pin one of the images to this board and I can keep going back to see what I wanna try next! Iā€™ve already replicated one outfit in this post.

And then of course, in my most wanted, I keep track of all those things that I would love to own. Whether or not I ever actually do. For those of you that like to keep to a list when you go shopping, this is perfect.

And personally, I have also found Pinterest a great place to keep track of my wedding inspiration. Now in the beginning of my wedding planning, I constantly go back to this board for ideas, and to make sure everything Iā€™m doing flows with the mood I am going for. Seriously, the best thing I could ask for.

Phew, that was a lot!

But does Pinterest sound right up your alley? Well, the site is invite only. But guess what? Leave a comment for me telling me what you would use Pinterest for with your email address, and you could receive an invite from Pinterest in your mailbox!* Good luck, you have until Wednesday the 27th to leave your comment.

*Again, Pinterest did ask me to write this post. They will be featuring one of my boards, along with other fashion bloggers boards, and are offering up to 15 invites for you guys.

Wedding Wednesday

I have a new obsession. And that obsession is Pinterest. Its amazing for organizing all of your inspiration- especially wedding inspiration. Its like a virtual corkboard. Now I can see my ideas all put together in one place. Its also a good place for finding new images/ideas. My favorites:

Amaaaaazing colors. Pretty much what Iā€™m going for. I also stumbled upon a tutorial for making those circular lanterns. Perfect DIY!

How had I not thought to have a drink bar?! Lemonades, iced teas, fun straws. I neeeed a lemonade stand.
