Bad Days (And Pretty Dresses)

*Siiiiiiigh* You guys, Wednesday was just one of those days. 

I think I broke my camera lens. Or maybe my camera body, but I think just my lens. It took a nose dive from atop my tripod, and it hit the ground. Hard. Something is definitely wrong now. The photos are now a little hazy - not as sharp as normal. 

And it makes me cry. Well, that and the giant burn on my stomach from splattered bacon grease. That makes me cry, too. But, lets be honest, it’s mainly the messed up lens. 

…..

Well, I have a fun new dress. So at least there’s that. 

…..

Crop and Swap

Confession: I absolutely LOVE the crop top trend going on right now. LOVE. IT. 

It’s just, when I actually got around to trying it myself, I felt a wee bit self conscious. But, with everything I have going on right now, I didn’t even have time to think about it. So I braved it - I hiked up my skirt, threw on a cardi (ok, not really. It was 100 degrees out. The cardi barely lasted 5 minutes), and headed out to this month’s Dress Swap hosted by the Swapaholics.

A while ago, the adorable Erica of Sweets and Hearts contacted me about my love of all things bows. You see, she loves bows too. So what do two bow lovers do? We swap. I sent her one of my bow necklaces, and she sent me this sweet hair bow. 

One can never have too many bows.

Fiesta Swap

On Wednesday evening, I attended The Swapaholics Fiesta Swap held at 40 Berkeley. There were pretty clothes, beergaritas and burritos, and photo booth fun. Overall, another successful swap :)

Firsts of the Season, And Thirds of Other Things.

The weather this weekend was absolutely perfect. Perfect weather for firsts of the season. It started with our first summer bbq with friends. Mmmmmmm, burgers and margaritas.  And then on Sunday, we spent our first official afternoon on the porch with a couple of cold bottles of Coke and our books.

And then we went and saw The Hunger Games.

For the third time.

Because there is nothing like finishing off a warm day with a cool theater, an iced coffee, and a really, really good movie.

Challenge Accepted

The last time I wore this skirt, I rocked it with a backwards cardi and pastels. Someone had commented that they loved that styling so much, they couldn’t imagine how else I could wear the skirt. So, in the words of Barney Stinson - challenge accepted. 

To be honest- at first, I agreed. I did have a hard time styling this skirt, and I was pretty impressed with myself for that particular combination, so I was a little at a loss as to which direction to go next. But then I somehow put this combo together. And I thought it was pretty awesome. True story. (ok, I’ll stop with the Barney quotes now).

Creepsters Be Creepin'

This outfit was created to go with my new DIY hair comb. Ta daaaaaaaaa…

So, I’m used to people staring and being creepy by now. It happens a lot, and I’ve mentioned it before. I get it. A girl standing there, posing, taking her own photos - its weird. But Its more something I expect when I’m taking them in public, not when I’m right in front of my own house. I was out taking these photos, and at the house directly across the street, two women opened their door and stood in their doorway as they stared at me until I finished. Whats worse is that I was directly facing them, so I had to face the awkwardness and see them as I was trying to pose. 

Come on people - just look, look confused and weirded out by the weird girl, and move on. No need to be that creepy.

Best Swap Find Ever

Yesterday, I mentioned that I managed to pick up a Diane von Furstenberg top at the swap (major score!). Well, here it is! Its silky, and hot pink, and has a fun print! I’m super pumped that I managed to get my hands on it before anyone else did.

What I Wore: Boston Fashion Week Sip and Swap

Last thursday I attended my second swap - the second annual Boston Fashion Week Sip and Swap hosted by the swapaholics. There was a fantastic turn out - a whole room filled with Boston’s most fashionable and thrifty. Plus, there were some amazing booths set up by other Boston based start up companies. 

The swapping was insane ( as usual), but I still managed to pick up some pretty good stuff (including a DVF top, which you will see tomorrow). And, somehow, I was convinced to walk in the post-swap  blogger catwalk wearing one of my finds. I’m just happy I didn’t fall on my face.

In My Life

On thursday I attended the Boston Fashion Week Sip and Swap, hosted by the Swapaholics (more on that tomorrow). P.S - I picked up the most adorable Diane von Furstenberg top while there (more on that wednesday). 

(L) Our local theater is my favorite place to go see a movie. I get so excited when the one I wanna see is playing there. This weekend, we saw  50/50, and it was so good!

(R) I’ve been working on a special batch of necklaces and headbands. Don’t worry, I’ll share soon!

Boo and I also went to the fair this weekend! Some highlights: Alpacas, and a water bottle I won that I’m pretty sure I also owned in 1991.
