year 7

all photos by Dawn M. Gibson Photography

I always share our yearly photos with you here, so here is year 7! Check out all the previous years here.

We always try to time our session for when we are back home in Buffalo, NY, becasue I just can’t imagine not having Dawn as our photographer! She is the absolute best, and I love going back to her every year. P had a bit of meltdown in the car right as we arrived to meet Dawn, so the first few minutes of the session were a bit rough. But a few throws in the air and a promise of a new Paw Patrol prize hiding in our bag (scroll down to see when she opened it lol) and she was good to go and her usual cute self.

P.S - my top is handmade: Romy top/self drafted with ruffle in a viscose/linen, Penny’s dress is also handmade: Macy Pinafore by Jilly Atlanta.

Family photos // Year 5

all photos by Stephanie Rita Photography

You would never know it from these photos, but Penny was very uncooperative for this session. Taking photos with toddlers is no joke. But Stephanie worked some serious magic! I couldn't be happier with how they turned out, and she looks like such an angel haha.

P.S - I made my dress and Penny's top. My dress is Simplicity 8341. Her top is a mishmash/self drafted kinda thing.

YEAR FOUR

I swear, our photos with Dawn get better and better each year! We had our family photos taken last month on my Dad's property. It's the same location we used for our engagement session, so it was only fitting that we used it again for our first set as a family of three! Penny was all smiles all morning, but then was pretty straight faced every time the camera was in front of her. Ha, of course! But she ended up sneaking in a few smiles for us. I just can't stop staring at her #allthehearteyes

P.S - my dress is old Anthropologie from a few years ago, and Penny's romper is Old Navy. Wrap is a Solly Baby Wrap!

YEAR TWO // PART ONE

Back in July, Boo and I had some portraits taken for our two year anniversary. I was anticipating the perfect blue sky, sunny summer day. But instead it rained and was windy and foggy. I was more than a little disappointed. At first. But it cleared up just in time, and turned out to be absolutely perfect. Needless to say, I am IN LOVE with them. Because Dawn is amazing. She did our one year photos, too, remember?

ONE YEAR ANNIVERSAY SHOOT, PART TWO

HollyZach_©DawnMGibson_setB1

So I had originally planned for a super snowy, winter wonderland setting for this shoot. And it seemed it was going to happen - Buffalo had gotten sooo much snow in the week leading up to our date. And then the day before…. it warmed up to 60 degrees and all melted away. So instead of a winter wonderland, we were instead left with a few small patches of wet snow and some left over snow banks. But we made the most of it, pretending those snow banks were real mountains of snow, instead :). I actually think it still came out nicely.

Of course, it snowed again right after the shoot. Typical.

To see the first half of the shoot, see yesterdays post.

ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOOT // PART ONE

HollyZach_©DawnMGibson_setA1

We took these photos just a couple of days before Christmas, while we were home for the holidays. Yeah, our anniversary is in July. But I am so determined to have yearly anniversary photos taken, that I’m just going to go ahead and call this the one year shoot. Even if it was 5 months late.

Our photographer, Dawn, did such an amazing job! And I’m horrible at narrowing photos down for a post, especially when I have almost 200 awesome ones. So I’m just going to go ahead and split this into two posts. Because I can. Check back tomorrow for the second half!

This first set was taken around town in East Aurora, NY, which is so quaint and cute. Even though we had to change plans at last minute (oh, mother nature), this urban setting was a perfect substitute to the winter wonderland we originally had planned.
