I’m so excited to share this outfit! It turned out exactly how I was picturing it.

As you may know, Megan Nielsen recently released 4 new patterns, including Jarrah and Dawn! And as usual, I’ve been busy helping create the swellings for her blog - Design Diary. You guys, these patterns are so good. I’m a tad obsessed with Jarrah. This is actually my 4th (I’m behind on posting. I’ll share the theres here soon). I chose the most soft, comfy, cozy minty sweatshirt fleece for this one. It is soon soft on the inside. And I got the ribbing from the Etsy shop FabricMade.

I’ve also been a bit sew-on patch obsessed lately. I’ve been collecting some really cute ones, and knew I really wanted to add one to this Jarrah. I put up a poll on my Instagram stories, which was no help because it was pretty much even among al four options lol. So I went with my original instinct, which was this Mother patch from Strawberry Moth. It ended up being perfect, because I was able to make Penny a matching sweatshirt out of my fabric scraps. It just worked perfectly!

Oooooh and the jeans. I love these jeans. They are my second handmade pair, the first being my Ash jeans. And while I love my pair of Ash, these are just…. perfect. Maybe it’s because I felt more comfortable being my second go at it. Or maybe these are just so my style at the moment. But I just love them. I chose the wide leg version this go-around, but want to eventually make a taped leg pair, too!

I took a chance with some white denim even though we are heading into winter here. And even though this is a rigid denim jeans patterns, this denim actually does have a tiny bit of stretch to it (shhhh). But I made a call and went for it anyway. I figured it would still work because its still a heavyweight denim and the stretch is minimal. And I was right. I think it still worked so well! I also took about 3/4” off the width at the hem and tapered it up towards the thigh. While I love the super wide leg look (I want to make another pair in something not as heavyweight. maybe linen?), I wanted something just slightly less wide for these. It’s just what I was picturing. And I couldn't be happier with the result. Other than that, I didn’t have to make any other adjustments. I cut my usual size.

Handmade Wardrobe // Tania 2.0

I totally forgot to post this here! A little while ago, Megan released an updated version of her Tania culottes. The new update includes extended sizing, new variations, AND the edition of pockets. POCKETS, you guys. Game changer. 

I created a whole sewalong over at Design Diary, which is fully posted now (yeah, I'm pretty late with this). So if you're thinking about making a pair yourself (which you should), you can follow along over there. I also go over how to add the pockets on to the older version, too.

Handmade Wardrobe // Ruffle River

This is my favorite and most worn version of all the River tops and dresses I made! It's made out of a slightly heavier, light blue chambray.  I added a little ruffle detail to the raglan sleeve seam on this one, and made sure to include a how-to post as part of the sewalong on Design Diary. Handmade Wardrobe // Ash Jeans

You guys - I made jeans! Megan Nielsen Ash jeans, to be exact. 

Since the sewalong I created for Design Diary is kicking off this week, I thought it was the perfect time to share these photos. Ash is a 4-in-1 pattern. With it you can create a mid-to-high rise pair of stretch jeans with either a skinny, slim, wide, or flared leg. It also has 3 inseam options - regular, tall, and cropped! Here, I've made the skinny version, slightly cropped. For reference, I'm usually a size 24 in denim, and made the 24 in these jeans with very little adjustments! I only let it out the hips a tiny tiny bit. Also, I took these outfit photos before I added the rivets, because I'm impatient, ha. But I've added in a few flat photos so you can see the rivets, too. 

I have to say, I was a little nervous to make jeans. I'd never done it before! But it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. A little time consuming, sure. And detailed. But not very hard!

Handmade Wardrobe // River and Axel

I'm back with another one of my Rivers! These photos are from back in February, hence the longer hair and lack of spring-iness haha. 

Anyway, this one is the knit top version, made out o a scuba knit. I paired it with my old Axel skirt (see it worn here). Not much to say about this one. It's such a simple and satisfying make - a perfect beginner's pattern! I made zero adjustments on this one. It's straight out of the pattern envelope! Well, PDF, but same thing.

have you fallen in love with River yet!? I still have 2 more versions to show you. I’m kind of obsessed with this one.  

Handmade Wardrobe // Pink on Pink on Pink

I'm so excited that Megan Nielsen released two new patterns today - River dress and top, and the Ash jeans! I've been working with Megan the last few months to create the sewalongs for these two patterns (coming soon!), and I've been dying to share with you all of the goods I've made along the way! I made four Rvers and one pair of Ash jeans!

We'll start out with one of my River dresses. What's great about this pattern is the versatility. It can be a dress or top, made from woven or knits, belted or loose, has optional pockets, and is reversible from v-neck to rounded neck! Here, I've made the woven dress version in linen. I chose to do contrasting colors for the raglan sleeves, and included the pockets and belt loops to have the option of belting it.

If you scroll all the way down, you can see that I have two sets of photos. The second set is from right after I made it back in February. I wore it belted. Since then, I've raised the hem a tiny bit and cuffed the sleeves a little more, too. Which is what you see in these photos up top here. I also opted to skip the belt the second time around, which I  think I love it this way the most! But I like having the option to belt it if I want to.

handmade wardrobe // Ruffle Rowan

This Megan Nielsen Rowan bodysuit has been sitting in my to-do pile since the beginning of fall. Why has it taken me this long to put on a bodysuit?! I definitely need more of these in my closet. You can officially count me as bodysuit obsessed. 

I made this one in a really soft and stretchy sweater knit, and added my own sweet ruffle detail to the turtleneck version. Perfectly me <3

handmade wardrobe // game changer

The Darling Ranges dress pattern has always been one of my favorites from Megan. But now that I've finally tried the new dartless version, my life has changed. Haha, but seriously. Game changer. I could LIVE in this silhouette.

handmade wardrobe// axel & darling

I saw this agate print scuba knit and immediately kneeeeew I needed to make an Axel mini out it. I could make a million of these skirts (here's another), they whip up so fast and are so comfy. I also made a simple sleeveless, dartless Darling Ranges blouse to go with it. Another one of those versatile patterns that I always go back to. I've been working with Megan on updating all of the Darling Ranges sew-a-long posts (stay tuned later this week!), and it just renewed my love for this old favorite.

Handmade Wardrobe // Velvety Smooth

Second Dove blouse in less than a week. I think its safe to say I have a new favorite pattern :)

Even though the pattern comes with bell sleeve options, I decided to add a basic gathered ruffle to the ends for something a little different. And this golden velvet? The dreamiest and silkiest. All the heart eyes.
