Over The Weekend: SoWa Edition

worn on June 19th, 2011

Sunday was an absolutely lovely day. I’ve been dying to visit the SoWa market ever since I first heard about it, and this weekend I got my chance! And just my luck, Amy and the Haberdash were going to be there. Even more my luck, it was a gorgeous sunny day.

At the end of the day, I walked away with a little vintage straw clutch, a fun geometric/ bunting necklace, and some new sewing patterns. Oh and I had a frozen milky way latte. De.lic.ious.

New Found Love

worn on June 17th, 2011

Most days I like my outfit, every once in a while… I love it. This outfit = love. I picked up this skirt in the most adorable little vintage shop right around the corner from me. If you’re from Boston, you already know about Artifaktori. But I lived here for about nine months and didn’t know it even existed. You’re not going to be able to keep me away from there now.

Stitches and Stitches

worn on June 15th, 2011

stitches #1: I mentioned the other day that I’ve been sewing a lot again. Well this top is something I’ve been working on. Polka dots and ruffles = my dream shirt. I can’t decide whether I want to keep it for myself or put it up for sale in my etsy shop. Actually, I wanna try this design out in a few other fabrics I have. So maybe after a few design adjustments (the neckline is a little lower than I would like) and construction changes, you may see a few of these babies in the shop.

stitches #2: If you follow me on twitter you might have seen this last night. But not too long after these photos were taken, I had a little accident. I was making dinner, and the sneaky little knife slipped while I was chopping onions. It hurt. Bad. Long story short - I ended up in the ER and now have 5 stitches in my little baby pinky finger. Not only did I hurt myself, but the freakin’ Bruins won the Stanley Cup :/ Lets just say… I’m not a fan. It was a bad night, obvs.

Second Time Around

worn on June 14th, 2011

Remember, not too long ago, when I wore this swapped dress/skirt from Kathryn ? Well you should know that I’m kinda obsessed with that outfit. But seeing as its not my skirt, I can’t exactly wear it again. But I came across the photos yesterday, and I realized I did have a skirt with the same shape and some-what similar colors. So I gave it a shot.

EBEW: Lace

worn on June 13th, 2011

I don’t really own much for lace, so I originally thought I was going to have to sit out of this round of EBEW. But I was going through my drawers the other day and I came across forgotten tee with a pretty lace detail. Just in time!

Sorry for the lack of outfit posts lately. I’ve gotten the itch to start sewing again, so thats what I’ve been doing (hence the tape measure around my neck and scraps of fabric in my hair). I have some new bows to be added to the shop, and new top design I’m working on, and I even bought fabric to make a second dress for our engagement photos coming up. I’m keeping busy, busy, busy!

P.S - I finally decided to sit out this round of 30 for 30. But I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Don't They Say - Beauty Is Pain?

worn on June 7th, 2011

My bad- I had been playing around with my camera the night before, and forgot to change the ISO back for these pictures. So they are a bit grainy-er than usual. Like I said… my bad.

I got this vintage dress on etsy a while back. I’m pretty sure it was actually made for a child, because it is so tight around my ribs that there is no way it was actually made for an adult female. I have to be very selective when I wear it. I definitely don’t wear it for long periods of time, or else I start to not be able to breathe. I know, not good. But its too cute…. so I continue to wear it.

I wore this outfit out yesterday to look for an engagement shoot dress. Well, I did get something. Just not exactly what I was originally looking to get. Oh, you will see…. in due time :)

Stupid cheap fake glasses glare. I really should get around to ordering my Warby Parkers

Our Own Harry Potter Weekend & a DIY

worn on June 4th, 2011

I’ve done this DIY before - here - with some grey trousers. But I had seen an image of denim scalloped shorts awhile back and I’ve been dying to make them. I’ve just been waiting to find a cheap pair of wide legs to do it, because I didn’t want them to be skin tight in the thighs. I found these ones at goodwill, and they fit perfect - so I knew it was time! I love ‘em. Thy just might be my new favorite shorts :)

Its very simple and there are plenty of tutorials out there! All you need is some sort of marker or fabric pencil, scissors, and fray check. And voila! I had these babies done in about a half hour.

Boo and I had a very Harry Potter filled weekend. We watched a few of the movies, read our books, and even made Butterbeer! Delicious.

That Time It Looked Like I Peed My Pants- But I Didn't

worn on June 3rd, 2011

I wore this out friday evening for dinner date night. Boo and I went to one of our favorite restaurants in Davis Square, where Boo proceeded to spill an entire glass of water all over me. I was soaked. And I sat there feeling like I had peed my pants - not a pleasant feeling.
